Our fees are structured so that your pregnancy care with us is both affordable and predictable.
A schedule of fees and written financial information will be provided to you prior to your first antenatal visit. If you have any questions about our fees or billing structure, please contact our friendly reception team who will be only too happy to answer your questions.
We request that payment for your antenatal visits in our rooms is settled at the time of your consultation. Payments can be made by EFTPOS, credit or debit card.
Please contact our reception for our schedule of fees for gynaecology appointments and services.
We can submit your claim directly to Medicare using our online claiming facility. If you are registered with Medicare and have recorded your bank details with them, this means your Medicare rebate will be directly deposited into your nominated bank account usually within 48 hours. If you do not have a bank details registered with Medicare a cheque will be sent to you.
Medicare provides a rebate for 85% of the standardised scheduled fee for services rendered by a medical practitioner out of hospital and 75% of the scheduled fee for all inpatient hospital services.
If your overall medical fees reach the Medicare Safety Net threshold within a year, you may be eligible for additional Medicare benefits for the remainder of the calendar year. To find out more about the safety net and to see if you need to register, click here.
The Pregnancy Management Fee or PMF is a fee charged for the management of a pregnancy which has progressed past 28 weeks. This takes in to account the whole of pregnancy care delivered by specialist obstetricians and the 24 hour availability of expert obstetric care and advice.
With Dr McLaren, your PMF covers all after hours calls, and your Bloom Pregnancy Package, including access to our unique program with Midwives, Physiotherapists and Dietician.
The Pregnancy Management Fee is payable at your 28-week visit and there is a Medicare rebate available. Private health fund rebates do not apply as this is an outpatient fee.
Please check with your private health fund to ensure you are fully covered for obstetric care in a private hospital.
We have a “no gap” arrangement with some health funds to enable us to bill your health fund directly for your delivery and in hospital care, however, there are some health funds that may be excluded and you can confirm with our reception team which funds this applies to.
Any hospital visits that are required while you are pregnant will be billed directly to your health fund with no “out of pocket” expense incurred.
You should also check with your health fund whether your baby is covered if there was a need to admit to the special care nursery or neonatal intensive care nursery.
During your pregnancy there may be additional costs for other medical specialists involved in your care, such as:
Sometimes we need to refer to other specialists such as an endocrinologist or surgeon for pregnancy-related complications. An account may be sent to you directly from these specialists and an out of pocket expense may be occurred.
Your health and that of your family are our utmost priority during these unprecedented times.
